Moloko have released their new album Statues and I got my copy last Friday. I was surprised. Not because I don't like it, on the contrary, but actually because the album feels more like a unity then their previous album Things to make and do.
In fact the peaceful laid-back (and at times almost epic) atmosphere of The time is now seems to have been smeared across the entire disc. Already, songs like 100% are stuck in my head and the urge to keep the CD-player on 'repeat' is irresistible. That said, the album seems to lack a defining climax. Instead all the songs seem to be levelled out. It does make the album feel rock solid and that's more of a compliment than a complaint if anything.
Go get it!
