Vectrex returns

If paying 150 euros for a Virtual Boy-shell was your thing, can I interest you in a miniature Vectrex console? It feels a bit excessive, but at least this one comes with its own electronic innards and accompanying games. The last time I touched a Vectrex is over two decades ago when a colleague at Gamesen.nl (yeah, ancient indeed, and the device is even older) showed it off during a party at his home. It's a curio alright.

The main draw about the device is that it draws its graphics as vectors on screen, resulting in a high contrast wireframe look. "Other" graphics are managed through clip on screen-overlays. It was an unwieldy device back in the day, but these days I guess it's fun for collectors or gamers who want a more modern lava lamp.

I stumbled upon this via Game Watch who noted the Japanese crowdfunding campaign, but on this side of the globe the Kickstarter-project already got funded. So yeah, low key love this, but what on earth would I do with it?
